[Web4lib] Skillset for new librarians

Along those same lines, take a look at the job adds that people are posing for Systems Librarians, Digital Collections Librarians, Web Services Librarians and whatever else you can find.  One of the thing I do is look at the job openings and ask myself "what skills am I lacking to fill that position?"  Then I can look and see what kind of education and/or certifications I might want to pursue.

It might be a fun exercise to supply a range of technical skills that
librarians can exhibit, say from no html to web server administration pro
and have your students rank themselves. This would give them the opportunity
to see where they fall in the competitive market (could be anonymous) and
against their in-class peers.

Nothing like the "scared straight" methodology to teaching...
