LIBRARY WEBMASTER $38,319- $65,968

The library Webmaster performs difficult technical work in the development, design, implementation, maintenance and management of Durham County Library's website (virtual branch). Develops and implements procedures and web design standards; collaborates with library technology management staff and the county's web team regarding the development and maintenance of the website and its content. Creates web-optimized images; updates content images and links. Manages access and maintenance to the library's virtual calendar/room reservation/summer reading software (Evanced) including software updates, troubleshooting and incorporation within the library's virtual branch. Oversees, monitors and updates library social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.) Collaborates with library technology management staff in monitoring, advising and keeping the content up-to-date on the public interface of the online public access catalog. (Horizon/HIP). Assists in the development and implementation of library marketing strategies; explores web-based opportunities; oversees library e-newsletters (NextReads) for library
patrons. Promotes the library's virtual branch to appropriate internal and external audiences.
Two years experience with online automation systems, knowledge of web-based instructional design principles and technologies; skilled in web design and demonstrated proficiency in using HTML and scripting technologies, web editors and graphic editors; ability to work independently or as a team member to identify requirements, find and evaluate alternatives, present solutions, make recommendations and follow projects through to completion; ability to take initiative and use
creative and innovative thinking to find solutions; ability to serve as a team leader, providing coordination and leadership to other team members; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, peers and department officials; ability to provide technical training to library staff; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science, library science or a related field and two years of experience in developing or managing websites.
