We use IE with an "proxy auto configuration" file. It is set up in the
browser, and the browser is locked down in the registry to prevent its
being changed. Patrons can only get to URL's allowed/included in the
pac file all other attempted URL's give a DNS error.

Below is an example of our OPAC file.
hth, kern
with (ProxyConfig) {
function FindProxyForURL(url,host)
{
if (isPlainHostName(host) ||
dnsDomainIs(host, "10.54.51.253") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, "65.175.139.12") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, ".symantec.com") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, ".syndetics.com") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, "syndetics.com") ||
dnsDomainIs(host, ".rpl.lib.nh.us"))
return "DIRECT";
else
return "PROXY 10.54.51.254"
}
}
