[Web4lib] Anyone tested/deployed Microsoft's MultiPoint Server?

No, in fact with XP embedded, we avoid the terminal server all together and load the roaming profile from the 2003 server in the thin client. There is just enough flash memory to load Adobe Reader and some printer drivers, but not Office. So I tell people, this is a device that is sufficient when all you need is a web browser. This makes it perfect for our catalog and subscription databases.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the info. With XP embedded, do you provide Office or other apps via Terminal Services?

We have always found Windows XP embedded sufficient for out PACs. We have several HP thin clients deployed at our various locations in Anaheim.

Greetings all,
We will be looking seriously at thin clients again next year for PACs. Our concerns in the past have always been around video performance. The technology seems to have advanced to the point where I think we should start looking at some demos. Microsoft's foray into Userful's territory was completely off my radar until recently. Has anyone tested or deployed this yet? If so, I'd love to hear your assessment of it's suitability for public access PCs.
Thanks,
Bill
