J. Y. Joyner Library of East Carolina University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Interface Specialist. The selected candidate will work with XML technologies such as XSLT, XPATH, XQUERY, etc. to manage the creation, maintenance, access, and delivery of digitized textual resources for the digital repository. The Interface Specialist will use CSS, XHTML, JavaScript, PHP, and other relevant technologies to create and maintain web interfaces for Digital Collections' projects; collaborate with other library faculty and staff on stylesheets and encoding structures for various text and metadata formats, as well as evaluate user needs following standard usability methods and establish user requirements to design prototypes and production user interfaces; implement and test final designs according to web and accessibility standards and best practices; and work closely with the other members of Digital Collections to plan, develop, and support various digital initiatives and with the Digital Collections developer to create dynamic, standards-compliant, online interfaces for department databases, repositories, and resources. The selected candidate will also supervise student employees working on related projects. The salary range for this position is $31,100 - $62,398 (Commensurate with qualifications for faculty and non-faculty EPA).
Prefer a BS degree in a technical or library-related major and experience working in a digital library environment.
