Are you going to be using a MAC server, or plug into Active Directory? If the latter, I have seen some demo's of third party products that will do authentication and a little bit of group policy work. www.grouplogic.com and www.centrify.com are two that you might want to take a look at. We are not using either right now so I cannot recommend one over the other, but I am keeping their information for future reference in case we end up going the direction you appear to be going in.

Subject: [Web4lib] Maintaining a Mac Lab
We're considering opening a Mac Lab (OSX) in our new library building, but my desktop team doesn't have experience in deploying and maintaining Macs. Can anyone point me to best practices and tools for deploying updated images, securing the machines, etc?
Thanks in advance!
