Hello, librarians!
Please forgive cross-posting.
*Survey on Blog Use*
I am currently requesting input from student and practicing librarians about
the use of blogs as a tool for sharing emerging library trends and
resources–and, incidentally, for the purposes of professional development.
This survey stems from my research into articles which have been published
on blogs. With few exceptions (and one of those was a dissertation), these
articles all discuss blogs from an outreach point of view. I’m interested
to learn if this is because librarians think they have no potential for
research sharing, or if there is some other reason no literature exists on
the subject. To partially remedy the situation, I intend to publish the
results as a scholarly article if possible. I will also likely post the raw
results on my blog.
*Please Participate!*
If you’d like to participate in the survey (and I would appreciate it if you
did!), you can follow this link to the blogs vs journals
survey<http://infomancy.net/library/bvjsurvey/>and answer the
questions. There aren’t many, so it should only take about 5
minutes to complete. (That's probably 5 minutes less than it will take you
to read my ridiculous e-mail...)
*Win a Prize!*
To sweeten the pot, I am offering up *a $10 amazon gift certificate to one
random survey taker*.
If you’d like to enter for the drawing, there is a slot on the “thank you
page” to enter your e-mail address. Simply put it in there after you’ve
finished the survey questions and click “submit” one final time. I will
absolutely not circulate your e-mail address, and after the drawing has been
completed, I will delete all e-mail addresses from the database. The
winning librarian will be contacted via e-mail with their gift certificate
code. I will also mention their name (and link) on this blog, if they so
desire.
The survey will run from today, June 6 through August 6th–one month from
now. At that time I will close the survey to new entrants, but the
questions will remain online for those interested in such things.
Any questions or comments? Feel free to comment on my
blog<http://blog.infomancy.net/?p=33>or e-mail me through my
site’s “contact” page <http://infomancy.net/contact.php>.
Thank you for your time and participation.
