[Web4lib] Online Seminars for Library Consortia and Libraries on Mobile Giving

Alliance Library System and Give by Cell announced a strategic partnership today to offer a LIBRARIE$ MATTER mobile giving campaign for ALS library members.  Many other libraries have expressed interest in a similar campaign.  In response to the interest, Give by Cell will offer two online seminars on April 28.  
 
·         The seminar at 10 am central on April 28 is for library systems, associations or other organizations that want to offer a collaborative campaign for their library members.  
 
·         The seminar at 2 pm central is for single libraries that would like to launch a campaign.  
 
Dave Asheim, President of Give by Cell will discuss how the program works, the steps and costs involved in launching a mobile giving campaign.  Alliance Library System is providing a ready-made LIBRARIE$ MATTER campaign at a low cost for interested libraries and ALS Executive Director Kitty Pope will provide tips and suggestions for marketing your mobile campaign.
 
LIBRARIE$ MATTER will provide a revolutionary method for libraries to raise funds and also reach a new generation of potential donors. LIBRARIE$ MATTER is a new mobile giving campaign launching today to create an effortless approach to raising money for any member of the Alliance Library System, simply by sending a text message.
As more charities worldwide rely on text message donations to raise millions of dollars for various causes, mobile donating becomes an attractive way for donors to support organizations instantaneously. Text message giving is simple, powerful and easy for both the donor and the library to use.  Raise new donations by using the donation tool everyone carries with them -- their cell phone!  LIBRARIE$ MATTER offers the public to do the same for libraries of every variety. 
 
The LIBRARIE$ MATTER campaign specifically calls for participating libraries to initiate a three-month pilot from July through September. A series of webinars and conferences will be available for participating libraries during the pilot whereby information about marketing the campaign and other key details are provided. The pilot will allow anyone to make a donation to participating libraries when they initiate a donation using their cell phone by texting a unique keyword specific to the library. The donor will receive a confirmation message and confirm the donation by texting “YES.” The donor then receives a thank you message and the donation amount appears on their monthly bill.
