[Web4lib] Best template or system to check in periodicals

Hi,
I wonder if you have any templates, or systems that you recommend to be used
by library staff to check in periodicals.
I am thinking about using Excel but wonder if you use Excel, how do you
prefer information to be organized on the workbook/worksheets?
