Greetings! Today, we had the first advisory meeting of the Infoquest collaborative text messaging reference project. We have 25 participants so far, and we are interested in having additional library members. If you would like to join the project communications group, go to http://groups.google.com/group/InfoQuest
I have attached project informational documents if you are interested. Each library is asked to staff the service two hours per week, attend advisory group meetings and participate in training. If you would like to participate, please fill out the agreement form and return it to Valerie Brandon at ALS via email at vbrandon at alliancelibrarysystem.com or by fax 309-694-9230. Please return to us by May 15. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Hope you will join us. Lori

Hi everyone-
Currently I am exploring text messaging as a way of receiving reference questions. I was hoping to get some feedback about services people are using to receive such messages. Specifically, I am looking into options that would allow us to receive text messages from students through Meebo and respond back to cell phones via Meebo as well. Right now I have been looking at AOL's AIM as well as Text A Librarian. I'd love to hear from people currently using one or the other, what you think the pros and cons are, your experience with providing/using this service, how you marketed the service, etc.
You can respond to the list or directly to me if you prefer.
Thanks so much.
