[Web4lib] Google Scholar

We've been providing our print and online serials holdings to Google
Scholar via Serials Solutions for at least two years. I once found an
article from 1917 through Google Scholar that was not indexed in any of
our databases. I always tell students to use it as a last sweep.
For off campus students, I've added the proxy server prefix to Google
Scholar in our alphabetical list so that our Serials Solutions link
appears in "Set Preferences."
Best regards,
Carole

It works from your IP range or for anyone who clicks on Scholar
Preferences and chooses your resolver.

Joanna,
Serials Solutions does that for us. We pay for their link resolver that
connects different databases to each other, and the Google Scholar
linking is a freebie that comes along with the deal. There's no extra
charge from the database vendors. It think it works only from our IP
range.

Subject: [Web4lib] Google Scholar
Hello Everyone:
I am trying to get some input as to who is using Google Scholar, and has
in
fact, provided information to Google, so that their
materials--especially
database articles--are researched, displayed, and linked after a search
is
conducted in Google Scholar.
I'm interested in how the entire process worked, but especially if there
were issues with database providers? did providers charge extra? where
there
any issues with link resolvers? issues with authentication, we use
EZproxy?
Thanks,
Joanna
