Wanted to add a few quick notes to this string.
* WorldCat.org includes a Google Books link (both for full text and
previews) when it is available. Look for the "Google Books" image on the
detailed record page under "Get It." (For example, look at the left side
of http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/56982016 )
* WorldCat.org presents a "FRBR-ized" view of materials when possible.
For the example item above, click the "editions" link and you get
information for all 7 editions:
http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/56982016/editions?editionsView=true&referer
=di
* Good news: HathiTrust content is planned to appear on WorldCat.org
next month (March 2009). The official press release is
http://www.oclc.org/news/releases/20097.htm
* There is a WorldCat Search API available, too, that developers can use
to enhance current systems and create new mash-ups, widgets and Web
tools with WorldCat data. More information at
http://www.oclc.org/worldcatapi/default.htm
Both Wittenberg and the University of Michigan are WorldCat libraries,
alongside 10,000+ more worldwide. Professors especially have seemed to
like the list-making functionality on WorldCat.org, and you could offer
this option out as a possibility with no additional work required by
your staff.
Thank you.

Several libraries have added public domain books from Google Books
and/or HathiTrust, including the University of Michigan (where the
project originated):
* The University of Michigan Library loads all records for HathiTrust
content. You can find HathiTrust content by searching this part of their
online catalog, Mirlyn:
http://mirlyn.lib.umich.edu/F/?local_base=hathitrust
* The University of Chicago Library adds records for public domain
materials into their discovery system, Lens:
http://lens.lib.uchicago.edu/
* Johns Hopkins University has embedded links to books from several
sources, including HathiTrust, Google Book Search, and the Internet
Archive, into their online catalog:
http://catalog.library.jhu.edu/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=default . See
http://bibwild.wordpress.com/2008/10/16/umlaut-digital-book/ for an
explanation of how it works:
MARC records from the HathiTrust are available via OAI. See
http://www.hathitrust.org/bibliographic_data_distribution for details.

Hi folks,
I feel like this has probably come up before, but didn't find anything
in the archives: *Is anyone include MARC records for freely-available
Google Books in library catalogs?* We had a professor ask if we could do
this, and it sounds like a daunting volume of material.
Are there MARC records for the books?
Is it easy/possible to keep freely-available books distinguishable from
"teasers"?
Anyone adding 856 links to Google Book versions of books you own?
Where's FRBR when we need it?
