Hello Everyone-

We are beginning to hear locally that the Federal Trade Commission's Red
Flag Rules may apply to library customer accounts. These regulations
focus on the measures taken by "creditors" to mitigate the risks to and
effects on customers from identity theft.

Have any of you had any experience with this new regulation, and if so,
how are you implementing it in your libraries?

Conversely, have any of you reviewed this regulation and decided that it
does not apply to your library?

Here's the main page of the Federal Trade Commission regarding the Red
Flags Rule:
http://www.ftc.gov/redflagsrule

Here's a brochure that encapsulates the Red Flags Rule:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/idtheft/bus23.pdf

And for those of you who want the citation to the Federal Register
(November 9, 2007) and the full text:

Thanks.
