CHIEF, Information Services Support

 

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY in Annapolis, Maryland invites
applications for the position of Chief, Support Services. AACPL's 15
branches serve 510,000+ residents, with an annual circulation of over
5.1 million items. 

 

Salary Range:                        Hiring Range is $63,586- $71,935
depending on experience

                                    Full Salary range is $56,200 -
$81,297 (plus longevity pay 

increases at 7,11, and 16 years)

Excellent benefits package includes 4 weeks of annual leave, starting
with year of hire.

 

Responsibilities include:  Reports directly to Library Administrator.
Directly supervises Information Services Support staff of six. Work
involves responsibility for the management and coordination and
oversight of the department that provides all technology support for the
Library's computer and internet based systems and services.   Work
includes formulating policies, developing plans and budgets for, and
overseeing daily operations of the department.  Responsibilities involve
important obligations in representing the Library System before the
Board of Trustees, funding agencies, and community and library groups,
and with vendors.

 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in either
a) Computer Science or b) a related field with substantial formal
coursework in computer technology. Advanced degree in Computer Science
or related field desirable; 5 years of relevant experience in
information technology; supervisory and/or management experience
desired; experience in library technology, specifically SIRSI/Dynix
systems, a plus.  

Knowledge of MS Office; Database programming; Windows servers and OS;
networking topology including TCP-IP and broadband technologies
including fiber and wireless; network traffic management and tools such
as Traffic Shapers, and the ability to understand and interpret network
and systems logging; knowledge of programming languages (Perl, HTML,
ASP, XML, Javascript and CGI-Bin; knowledge of Unix and ability to
perform basic editing using vi and use other commands to work with the
Unix file system (Sun Solaris 10); experience with Dreamweaver, Acrobat,
Flash, and Fireworks.
