*1) Director of Public Services: *James Madison University invites
applications for the position of Director of Public Services.  The
Director will oversee public services in Carrier Library and also take a
leadership role in coordinating with related departments across
Libraries and Educational Technologies to accomplish strategic goals
related to public services and the liaison program.

*Qualifications:  *ALA accredited MLS.  Excellent interpersonal,
communication, analytical, planning, organizational, and leadership
skills.  Knowledge of trends in higher education and a clearly
articulated vision for the future of academic library services.
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and demonstrated ability
to creatively apply technologies to enrich the experience of learners
and scholars. Commitment to providing excellent user-centered services.
Demonstrated ability to lead and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative
environment. At least five years academic library experience including
experience managing library services and supervising staff.  Minimum
salary $70,000. Review of applications will begin on Jan. 5 and continue
until the position is filled.


*2) Assistant Director of Public Services: *James Madison University
seeks an innovative, dynamic librarian for a new position of Assistant
Director of Public Services.  This position will manage the
implementation, operation, evaluation, and promotion of the learning
commons service model in Carrier Library, working collaboratively with
public services staff and other partners.

*Qualifications: *ALA accredited MLS.  Excellent interpersonal,
communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Experience with reference or learning commons service. Knowledge of
undergraduate student information and technology needs. Commitment to
providing excellent user-centered services.    Knowledge of current and
emerging technologies and experience providing web-based services.
Ability to develop effective training programs for staff.  Experience
with library instruction preferred. Ability to thrive in a dynamic,
collaborative environment. At least three years academic library
experience with some supervisory experience preferred. Minimum salary
$55,000. Review of applications will begin on Jan. 5 and continue until
the position is filled.
