Palgrave Macmillan and Nature Publishing Group collaborate to launch new
eBook platform

In response to the growing demand for digital resources Palgrave
Macmillan will launch the eBook platform, Palgrave Connect, in January
2009.

Developed in association with Palgrave Macmillan's sister company,
Nature Publishing Group (NPG), Palgrave Connect offers libraries a
flexible approach to building an eBook collection in the Humanities,
Business and Social Sciences. Over 4000 e-books will be available in
January 2009. The collections are organized and sold by year of
publication and discipline. 2009 collections will receive quarterly
updates with newly published titles. Both the backlist and the 2009
collections are available via a "one-time perpetual access"
purchase model.

Palgrave Connect is powered by NPG's award winning online platform
nature.com alongside the Palgrave journals content. The choice of NPG
as partner also means that librarians can control their institution's
subscriptions to journal and eBook products from both publishers via one
administration system and with a single point of contact for customer
service. www.palgraveconnect.com incorporates NPG's full range of
library services, including institutional usage reports and promotional
tools. MARC records will be included with all collections at the time
of purchase. We are now closer to hosting both eBooks and journals on
the same platform soon, as an important first step towards offering
completely integrated content collections in the future.

'Access to books online is rapidly becoming as important for academics
and professionals as traditional print models - in some cases even more
important, since eBooks bring powerful benefits such as searchability,
remote access and multiple concurrency. Palgrave Macmillan's new e-book
platform, Palgrave Connect, brings together our rich backlist in each
subject area together with new titles publishing around the same time as
the print version, to offer libraries an exceptional range and quality
of research in digital format.' - Alison Jones, Director of Digital
Development, Palgrave Macmillan
