I used a version of this a couple years ago on a previous blog. I had
special "avatar posts" that were read by my animated avatar. The
reaction was, 100%, terrible, with comments like "creepy" and "useless"
being most popular. I took it down after about 2 weeks.

Subject: [Web4lib] sitepal?
The reference librarians at my library are interested in this tool
http://www.sitepal.com/
for our site.
Has anyone considered this as a method for marketing library
resources/services and personalizing the user experience on the library
site? This is the first I've heard of it and was wondering if anyone
else had some thoughts.
Thanks!
Kristen
