The Spanish Chapter of ISKO (International Society of Knowledge Organization) announces the first call for papers for the "9th Conference of the ISKO Spanish Chapter" which will be held in Valencia on 11, 12 and 13 March 2009.
Under the general heading "New perspectives for the organisation and dissemination of knowledge", the following topics will be

addressed:

- The Epistemology of Knowledge

        The challenges of managing knowledge in a multicultural context

        The ubiquitous nature of knowledge

        Inclusion of ontology

        Information design and systems through ontology

        Knowledge life cycles: renewal and obsolescence

        Ergonomics of perception for improving knowledge

- Representation of knowledge: quantitative modelling

        Multi-modal metadata

        Indexing and recovery of images, video and audio using search engines

        Multi-modal indexing

        Ontology and semantic maps

        Recommendation and collective filtering systems

        Regulations and Standards contributing to the dissemination and accessibility of knowledge

- Social networks and collaborative knowledge

        New perspectives for knowledge in Web.2

        Access to knowledge

        Reusing knowledge in e-administration

        Technologies for a semantic Web

        Personalising and adapting content



Proposals for Contributions



1. Types of contribution accepted

Accepted for this congress will be: papers, posters and workshop proposals.

Individuals wishing to present a paper at the 9th Conference of the ISKO Spanish Chapter must submit a summary which will be checked and then published in a monograph published by Valencia Polytechnic University Publications Service.

2. Checking of papers

The scientific committee of the 9th Conference of the ISKO Spanish Chapter  will check and assess summaries to decide on whether to accept or not based on relevance, quality, clarity and originality.

Authors must make clear the central aim or hypothesis of the research, in addition to presenting some initial results.

Key Dates

Submission of summaries: until 1 July 2008 at the following address 

magies at aaa.upv.es

Notification of provisional acceptance and request for full text: 1 September 2008

Delivery of full texts: until October 2008. This must be the predefinitive version and shall be subject to assessment.

Final checking and submission of definitive version: until 31 December 2008



3. Guidelines for sending summaries

Languages used at the Conference will be Spanish, English and Portuguese, and summaries must be between 500 and 1000 words.

The first page must feature the following information:

- 9th Conference of the ISKO Spanish Chapter, Valencia, 11-13 March 2009

- Names of Authors

- Membership

- Contact details

Type of contribution (Paper, Poster, Workshop)

Title

The summary must be on the second page (no names must appear on this page)

We recommend sending a Word or RTF document by email (with ISKO as the Subject) to the following address: magies at aaa.upv.es

The rules for presentation of the contributions accepted shall be sent to the authors when they are informed of the decision of the

Scientific Committee.
