I didn't really mean to imply that it was a pop-up according to the
old definition and was admittedly loose with semantics and writing a
bit to fast. My point was merely as you also pointed out, both pop-up
blockers and people have grown to associate any new window opening
with popups. Several popup-blockers block other annoying marketing
tricks like pop-unders or sliding pop-ups, also not arguably "pop-ups"
in the original sense.
