[Web4lib] visitor/guest card policy

Yes, our new session management software (Librarica's CASSIE) does allow
us to print out guest passes to be used one time, etc. Being that the
majority of our guest pass users are residents, come back in daily (we
just can't force them to get a card), I'd actually prefer creating
Internet only cards, but I'm in the minority.

There are several software packages that offer guest solutions that do
not involve adding patron numbers to your ILS database. We are using
Envisionware, and it generates random numbers and prints a slip of
paper, and doesn't connect that transaction to our Polaris database at
all.

Hello Karen,

I'd be interested in any off-list feedback you receive as well. While
having Internet-only cards is tempting, some staff are concerned that
those cards will inflate our statistics.

Thanks,
