Why not start a contest for library-related apps for the iPhone?
There is a higher education contest called Big 2008 Mobile on Campus.
Prize includes a trip to EduCause, the big higher education conference.
Eligible contestants are university students and staff (so university
librarians are eligible!). See http://higheredcontest.wireless.att.com
When I first heard of it, I tried to get a contest for public libraries,
too. No luck. I was too new to the job. I'd be glad to work with
Webjunction or ALA to create a contest especially for libraries. That
would be fun! I have no budget for prizes, but I can certainly
publicize library iPhone and other mobile applications.
What would be a compelling contest name?
-- Mobile Libraries on the Move: library apps for iPhones, BlackBerry's,
and More
-- Libraries @ Your iPhone
-- other?
Let's make a fun run at the media -- about what they've missed!
I collect library applications, but it would be much more meaningful for
a library group to run the contest, do a press release.
Your thoughts?
- Jackie

Not a library app but this site did a comparison review of the
Ereader and Bookshelf apps that are available for the new
iPhone.

This is a romance blog but the authors have been very interested in
ebooks and readers and they've spent a lot of time researching the
best/easiest to use.
