The Digital Technologies/Information Literacy Librarian reports to the Head,
Reference and Collection Development Services for reference and instruction
duties and to the Collection Development Services Coordinator for collection
development and faculty liaison responsibilities.
Summary of Duties:
25% - Assumes a leadership role in exploring, developing, and implementing
digital technologies for the provision of instructional services in an
academic environment; works with Library Systems staff in selecting and
utilizing software appropriate for instruction needs; communicates with
library and other university personnel concerning digital technologies.
25% - Provides library instruction, including participation in the
Libraries' instruction credit course; assists with the development,
implementation, promotion, assessment, and incorporation of information
literacy principles into instruction and the curriculum; participates in the
Reference department's Instruction Committee activities; maintains and
creates library tutorials.
20% - Serves as a selector and faculty liaison for one or more subject
areas; reviews approval plan programs and maintains collection development
policy statements in these subject areas; participates in liaison group
activities.
15% - Works to meet promotion and tenure requirements for research and
service.
10% - Provides general and specialized Reference and information services at
a combined general Reference/government documents (may work nights and
weekends in rotation); develops library instructional materials, including
discipline-specific Web pages and other Internet-based materials.
05% - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required: Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program; undergraduate
degree; ability to work independently, collegially and collaboratively in a
demanding and rapidly changing environment; excellent interpersonal,
communication, and organizational skills; ability to provide reference
services and library instruction; potential to meet requirements for
promotion and tenure.
Preferred: Knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources;
experience in reference work and/or bibliographic instruction in an academic
library; experience with course management software; experience in creating
interactive online tutorials; experience in applying new digital
technologies to the provision of instructional services; experience with web
page creation; working knowledge of web-related markup languages.
