I'll second this. Wikis are great for collaborating, but terrible for
communicating. Forums tend to have a bad rep because they're older
technology and somehow less exciting.
For what you want, you need forums. PHPBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) is easy
software to install and maintain, and many hosts offer it. This site (
http://www.informe.com/index.html) has free bulletin board hosting, but
I've never used them.
