Instructor: $35,657 - $57,342
Assistant Professor: $38,801 - $67,092

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Librarian for Public Services, the Web
Librarian is responsible for the design and content development of
the Libraries' web page as a major channel for the delivery of
library services, resources and instruction. Conducts periodic
assessment and web usability testing to meet the changing needs of
the library users. Develops guidelines and standards for the Web page
and maintains knowledge of current best practices, standards, issues
and trends in web design in academic libraries. Collaborates with
library staff, campus web development staff, and others as
appropriated; represents the Libraries on appropriate department,
campus and CUNY committees. Provides reference services and
participates in library instruction and collection development.
Plans, develops and conducts faculty development workshops in the
support of web development, appropriate software and other tools.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
Instructor: MLS or its equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school.
Assistant Professor: MLS or its equivalent from an ALA-accredited
library school and an additional Master's Degree or Doctorate.
Ability to meet requirements for tenure and promotion.
Highly Desirable Skills
Experience in managing complex websites and web-based applications in
an academic library; demonstrated knowledge and experience with web
authoring (e.g., Dreamweaver, Contribute, Flash), graphic design
tools (e.g., Photoshop) and other web applicable development tools
(MySQL, XHTML, PHP, PERL, CSS, etc.); academic library reference,
familiarity with electronic resources; effective bibliographic
instruction skills; time and project management skills, excellent
analytical, organizational, communications and interpersonal skills;
ability to work in a collaborative environment with a strong
commitment to public service
