[Web4lib] Web Applications Developer Position Opening

University Libraries at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is 
seeking an enthusiastic individual to create and maintain web applications 
within the libraries? dynamic, extensive computing environment, which 
consists of more than a dozen servers, multiple operating systems, and 
cutting edge electronic information services.  Reporting to the Digital 
Technology Consultant, the web applications specialist will work closely 
with departments within the library in developing and upgrading a wide 
variety of web projects.

Responsibilities
As a member of the Electronic Resources & Information Technology (ERIT) 
Development Team, the position?s duties will include the maintenance and 
development of existing Library web applications, as well as the updating 
of programming and architecture of those applications as needed.  Under 
the supervision of the Digital Technology Consultant the emphasis of this 
position entails the designing, architecting, and development of new, 
scalable Library applications as needed.

Qualifications Required
A bachelors degree is required for this position. Excellent interpersonal 
skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and 
colleagues.  Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to 
manage multiple projects and priorities successfully.  One or more years 
worth of demonstrable hands-on experience with the Microsoft ASP.NET 
development environment utilizing Visual Basic 2005 and SQL Server 2000. 
Hands-on experience in coding XHTML web pages using CSS 2.

Qualifications Preferred
Familiarity with Internet Information Server 6 and relational database 
development, including a working knowledge of SQL Server 2005. Experience 
in designing front-end web interfaces. Experience in an academic setting. 
Familiarity with PHP 5 in a *Nix environment. An advanced technical degree 
or certification related to the position. Knowledge of accessibility and 
ADA challenges in developing robust web applications.
