I'm looking for an inexpensive solution to allow me to manage a library of
documents (mostly word processing, spreadsheet, or presentation files) on a
web server.

   - Each document would have 5-10 pieces of metadata (description,
   author, date, etc.)
   - There should be a secure web interface by which its administrator
   can upload new documents.
   - Users should be able to search the documents by their metadata or
   sort the list of documents in the library through their browser.
   - Preferably should install easily on Linux hosting.

I know that a competent web programmer could build such a thing without too
much difficulty or expense, I'm looking for an even less expensive option.

Any suggestions?
