The Auraria Library, serving the University of Colorado at Denver and
Health Sciences Center, Downtown Denver Campus, Metropolitan State
College of Denver, and the Community College of Denver, seeks a dynamic,
energetic, and innovative individual to serve as Coordinator for Digital
Library and Metadata Services. 

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Access, Collections, and Technical
Services (ACTS), the incumbent in this position administers all aspects
of Auraria Library's digital initiatives including leading digital
library development and implementation and coordinating the library's
digital activities in support of such user services as the institutional
repository, online catalog, and metadata-based and federated searching
applications.

Responsibilities: 

*	Leads the planning, implementation and evaluation of the
Library's digitization activities

*        Oversees the Metadata and Archives/Special Collections
operations, consisting of 4 faculty (including two team leaders, one for
each operation), 4.5 staff, and several student workers.  

*	Chairs the Library's Institutional Repository Committee and
serves on other relevant committees (such as III Oversight)
*	Actively participates in the administration of the Library by
serving on Administrative Council in establishing Library priorities and
formulating library policies and procedures.  
*	Keeps abreast of developments impacting the Library, including
emerging trends in scholarly communication and library technical and
digital services 
*	Represents library on consortial and regional committees as
appropriate; and
*	Contributes to the profession through scholarly publications,
presentations, and service to library-related organizations 

Required Qualifications: 

*	Experience with library digitization projects/initiatives  
*	Experience with cataloging/metadata applications/operations
*	Familiarity with best practices for digitization and metadata
*	Experience with integrated library systems, such as Innovative
Interfaces Inc. 
*	Three or more years of supervisory experience
*	Record of working effectively and collaboratively with a variety
of library employees and library users in a challenging, complex,
ever-changing environment
*	Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication (oral
and written) skills.  
*	Demonstrated planning and project management skills
*	Master's degree in library and information sciences.  

Preferred Qualifications:

 

*	Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating library
digitization projects/initiatives 
*	Special Collections and/or archival experience
*	Supervisory experience in an academic or research library
*	Familiarity with electronic archives, institutional
repositories, or equivalent open access media  
*	Familiarity with digital asset management tools
	
	
*	Ability to take a broad view/perspective of library and campus
issues 
*	Proven track record of developing collaborative projects among
various library and campus units
*	Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the creative use of
current and emerging trends and technologies
*	Experience in developing grant proposals
*	Understanding of copyright and intellectual access issues
*	ALA-accredited graduate degree in Library and Information
Sciences or its foreign equivalent. 

 

Position Classification and Salary:  This is a tenured/tenure-track
faculty position with a minimum salary of $60,000, commensurate with
skills, experience, and rank. To be appointed with tenure, one must be
tenured at a comparable academic institution and meet the Auraria
Library's criteria for tenure and promotion.  The University of Colorado
