Some folks have been saying that's the trend for the past few years.
Online storage, online apps, online everything.  Personally, I don't
see that happening for many users, simply because the internet isn't
as reliable day-to-day as a local hard drive.  There are stretches of
hours where I can't log into gmail.  That's why I don't rely on Google
Documents, despite its convenience.  And until my ISP guarantees (and
delivers) 100% up time on my connection, I'll stick to a locally
installed operating system.

I'm all for online backups of local data, but that's a different story.
