The International Conference on Asian Digital Libraries (ICADL) is one of the leading international conferences in digital libraries research. ICADL 2007 will provide a forum for sharing ideas, research results and experiences in digital libraries, related technologies and associated practical and social issues. Participants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged. Previous conferences have included practitioners, researchers, educators and policy makers from a variety of disciplines such as computer science/information technology, library and information sciences, archival and museum studies, knowledge management, and many areas in the social sciences and humanities.
Into its tenth year, the theme of ICADL 2007 will be "Asian Digital libraries: Looking Back 10 Years and Forging New Frontiers". In line with this theme, we are soliciting papers that examine the history and development of digital libraries, especially projects in the Asian region, as well as papers that discuss future developments and cutting-edge technologies in digital libraries. Submissions focusing on other digital library areas are also welcome and may include research, system, evaluation, policy and position papers. Topics include but are not limited to:
* digital library infrastructure and architecture
* information retrieval, filtering and extraction
* data/text/Web mining
* text summarization
* multilingual information processing
* interoperability issues
* open source tools and frameworks for digital libraries
* mobile services
* human-computer interaction
* user interfaces and visualization

* social, institutional, and policy issues

NEW SPECIAL TRACK: EUROPEAN DIGITAL LIBRARIES INITIATIVES
In addition, ICADL 2007 has partnered with the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL) and The European Library (TEL) to organize a special track on European digital libraries initiatives. We welcome papers that discuss experiences and projects that promote collaboration between Europe and Asia. Specific topics include those listed above as well as strategic, political and interoperability issues in language and standards.
When submitting papers to this special track, please specify "Special track: European DL initiatives" in the topic list of the paper submission system in addition to the other relevant topics.
Maristella Agosti of the University of Padova and Jill Cousins of The European Library will be invited speakers in this special track.
PAPER SUBMISSION
Both full papers and short papers will be accepted. Papers must be in English with a limit of 10 pages for full papers and 4 pages for short papers. Electronic submission will be used and the accepted file format is Adobe Acrobat PDF.
All papers must be original contributions and not previously published nor currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Conference proceedings will be published as part of Springer Verlag's Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Submissions must therefore conform to the LNCS formatting instructions. Please refer to the conference Web site for more details.
These instructions also apply to papers submitted to the special track on European Digital Libraries Initiatives.
