Yes, I understand the point, and were I you, I'd probably decide it was time
to depart that scene/person.

However, I had a somewhat similar experience with voicemail 17 years ago,
and had I walked at that time, I'd not be married to my wife now, and we
wouldn't have a classic family story to tell.
