Programmer

Position Context
The Digital Initiatives Department of K-State Libraries seeks a skilled and
motivated programmer to join its team working on a wide array of challenging
projects and services. This position assists in the development, delivery
and maintenance of digital content and services in support of digital
initiatives. We offer a stimulating and rapidly evolving environment that is
dedicated to finding new and unique ways to provide better online services

2.0service and communication practices, offering an enterprise
blogging system,
wikis, a Google Search Appliance, etc., and are in need of dynamic

vocabulary.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or an
equivalent combination of experience or education.  Related work experience
can be substituted at the rate of two years of experience for one year of
education.

Required Qualifications
Experience with current trends in Web technology, including LAMP Web
development, XML/XSL, AJAX, RSS.
Demonstrated experience working with Apache, Tomcat on UNIX, and basic
application administration.
Database design and administration with major relational RDBMS.
Ability to work in an API environment and experience with SOAP and/or REST.
Evidence of familiarity with the open source software movement, and the
ability to leverage OSS to benefit the Libraries.
Excellent verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative
environment.
