Join the team of an upbeat, progressive, public library in beautiful 
Sarasota, Florida.  Selby Public Library is seeking an energetic, 
team-oriented ELECTRONIC RESOURCES REFERENCE LIBRARIAN with a strong public 
service commitment. Duties include web site maintenance and development, 
reference service to a diverse population characteristic of a large public 
library in a busy urban setting, promotion of electronic information 
sources, and participation in the library's instructional programs. The 
facility is spacious and modern and the staff is dynamic and dedicated to 
excellent public service.

The person in this position provides informational service to library 
patrons and maintains the Library System website; must have knowledge of 
modern principles, practices and procedures of library and information 
science.  Knowledge of reference materials, reading tastes, online 
resources, and training techniques is necessary.  Knowledge of HTML, graphic 
and web design software; electronic resources including the Internet, online 
library catalog, reference databases, and office software applications 
required as well.

Skills required include public relations; interpersonal communication to 
provide excellent customer service to library users from diverse cultures; 
good verbal and written communication; use and application of computers, 
automated library systems, and electronic resources
Must have the ability to build and maintain high quality web sites; work 
comfortably in an urban, multicultural environment; work well with internal 
and external customers in a professional, friendly and cooperative manner; 
and work collaboratively in a team environment.

A flexible schedule is required, with some evenings and weekends.

Salary: 33,196.80 to $41,454.40

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Do you possess one of the following requirements?1. 
A Master's Degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited 
by the American Library Association or enrolled in a MLS/MLIS program with 
the ability to obtain a MLS/MLIS within six months of hire OR 2. At least 
six (6) years of equivalent education and/or professional libraries 
experience may substitute for the required education. Substituting education 
must be in the area of Library Science. Substituting experience must include 
Library experience providing reference services, cataloging and classifying 
books and materials, selecting books and materials, bibliographic control, 
developing procedures for circulation and library organization and/or 
administration.
