Hi Verna,

The 'IT For Me' service (http://www.itforme.org.uk) seems to fit your bill.
This is based on Knowedge Integrations's iNode portal which is completely
open source, licensed under the GPL (http://www.k-int.com/product.php?id=4).
The same software is the basis of the People's Network 'Discover' service
(http://www.peoplesnetwork.gov.uk/discover).

The servie grew out of a 3 year EU funded project led by University of
Sheffield. It is now funded jointly by the 4 authorities as a service,
hosted by us.

As this is our software, I won't claim this as a recommendation. However,
if you'd like to get hold of the source code or get a login to a demo system
so you can try out the librarian's 'admin' interface then please contact me
off-list.

Cheers,

Neil
