Oregon State University Libraries is seeking candidates for the position of
Department Head, Library Technology.

Position Summary:

Heads the Library's Technology Department. Oversees staff and technology
resources. Researches digital library technologies and works with the
Library's research and development group to pursue new and innovative
technologies.


Position Qualifications:

M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree from a
computer science / information science program combined with significant
experience working in a library environment. Demonstrated supervisory
experience; experience in digital library technology development and
implementation; proven ability to plan and implement information technology
services within a library setting; effective communication and interpersonal
skills; and demonstrated leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of one or more of the following
programming languages: Php, Perl, Ruby, Python, Java; experience working on
Linux / Unix and Windows servers; experience with GIS applications;
knowledge and / or experience with the following digital library standards:
OpenURL (Z39.88), COinS, unAPI, Z39.50, SRU/W, OAI-PMH, SUSHI, Marc/XML,
MADS, MODS, METS, TEI; experience with Innovative Interfaces systems; a
demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
