Is anyone aware of any MARC editors that can do automated insertion of
new subfields into the 852 tag in a batch of records?
We get MARC records from Brodart, and are importing them into Polaris
(we just moved from Horizon to Polaris). Brodart will only insert a
certain number of 852 tag subfields into a record, which leaves us with
4 other subfields that need to be in the records but are not there.
After talking to the folks at Brodart and Polaris, we are entertaining
the possibility of doing our own post-download, pre-import adjustment to
the records.
I could just write a PERL script using the MARC module that would handle
the job, but don't want to reinvent the wheel if it is not necessary.
We tend to get a lot of records at one time and only have one cataloger,
so we want to look at a batch processing option, rather than something
that requires active human input on a record-by-record basis.
Thanks for any suggestions!
