Join Alliance Library System and OPAL (Online
Programming for All Libraries) online using Elluminate
on Wednesday April 5 at 1:00 p.m. central time to hear
Craig Davis from the Youth Digital Arts Cyberschool
discuss how schools, libraries, and community
technology centers can encourage children and young
adults to use creativity and gain technology skills
through an online cyberschool. Davis will discuss the
Cyberschool curriculum, how schools, libraries, and
community technology centers can become involved, and
the importance of getting young girls involved in
technology.
Boys and Girls from across the United States, Canada,
Britain, Singapore, and Japan are learning how design
and create their own video games, design and animate
their own video game characters, and compose amazing
digital music by taking classes at the Youth Digital
Arts Cyberschool. These courses are for students from
3rd grade through high school. Students watch an
instructor's screen and listen to the instructor's
voice as they are taken step-by-step through the
creation process. All the classes are self-paced so
students can rewind, pause, and replay the lessons as
much as they wish. To see what other kids say about
the courses, try a sample chapter, and to watch a
documentary of girls who have taken the courses at
their school go to: www.ydacs.com.
