Bruce Sterling has a great line in "The Hacker Crackdown." He says:
"Unfortunately, computers are also stupid. Unlike human beings, 
computers possess the truly profound stupidity of the inanimate." (p 30-31)

So I went onto Books Live (interesting ambiguity there depending on how 
you pronounce l-i-v-e) and did a search on the word "california" because 
I figured it would get me something. It did. It got me a lot of books 
that have nothing to do with California, but which have on the inside of 
their back cover a glued in flap of paper that reads:

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA LIBRARY
BERKELEY
THIS BOOK IS DUE ON THE LAST DATE STAMPED BELOW
Books not returned on time are subject to a fine of 50c per volume after the
third day overdue.... etc.
