About UC Santa Cruz: With an enrollment of 15,000 undergraduate and
graduate students, UCSC is one of ten campuses of the University of
California. In a survey of 60 elite universities, UC Santa Cruz
ranked 15th for the percentage of its students whose bachelor's
degree led to doctorates. Another study ranked UCSC as 11th in the
country among public universities for the quality of its research
productivity. Researchers at the University of California, Santa
Cruz, attracted a record $128.5 million in external grants and
contracts to the campus in the 2005-06 fiscal year. UCSC is
distinctive as a major research university with an uncommon
commitment to teaching and public service. UCSC is especially
interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and
excellence of the academic community.
The UCSC Library has collections of approximately 1.5 million
volumes, more than 22,000 serials, two library buildings, and a staff
of 120. The Library has the most intensely used collection in the UC
system. Deeply embedded in the Library's culture is a tradition of
flexibility and innovation, which has enabled the Library to
participate actively in the University's instruction and research
programs. Excellent service is another hallmark of the UCSC Library,
as is partnership with the other UC libraries and the California
Digital Library. The UCSC Library uses the Innovative Interfaces
