TITLE: Coordinator (Web Application Developer)
CATEGORY: Exempt Staff, Full-Time, Contract Appointment
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Benefits available.
Responsibilities: Incumbent will serve as a member of the Web Services team
within the Information Technology Division (ITD) of the University of
Maryland Libraries supporting both the University Libraries and the
University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions consortium. Will
develop and maintain web services.
Specific Responsibilities:
=B7 Develop web applications in support of the web site
=B7 Develop, acquire and/or customize web statistic tools
=B7 Web Search engine customization and support
=B7 CMS development and support
=B7 Maintain and enhance existing web applications
=B7 Scripting the back end for web forms
=B7 Keep apprised of new technologies and solutions
=B7 Participate in the administration of the web site and server
=B7 Participate in Library-wide and campus-wide committees and team=
s
=B7 Other duties as assigned
=B7 No supervisory responsibility
Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution=
=2E
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience: Three years of IT application software design and development.
One year of design and development of web applications. One year of
professional experience in a unix environment. Experience and knowledge in
at least one of the following areas: Perl; PHP; Java/Tomcat. Knowledge of
HTML/XHTML/CSS. Knowledge of XML/XSLT. Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred: Knowledge of Web Services (e.g. SOAP). Knowledge in Section 50=

Web Accessibility standards and W3C Web Standards. Knowledge of
MySQL/PostgreSQL. Experience with one or more of the following: Solaris,
apache, other programming languages such as python, C/C++, etc. Experience
developing/deploying Content Management Software. Experience in academic
libraries.
