Hello, there!
We have a brand new web server running MS Server 2003 and IIS6.0, and I
can't it to serve out my web page. (No, I haven't turned off the old one
yet.) Anyway, here's the problem:
I can't get it to read my default webpage as localhost, nor as the
computer name, either internally or externally. I did get my
personalized error message once, the one for "HTTP Error 401.1 -
Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials." So I added
everyone as a user with read/execute rights, in addition to the
anonymous guest Internet user account. I have tried using a static IP,
not using same, varying the host headers to include localhost, using the
translate IP as well as the internal one - all no good. This is
(obviously) my first experience with IIS 6.0 (the old server is running
1.1), and my setup has been checked by the city IT person, who says it's
just like hers except for things like site name - she couldn't see
anything wrong either, but it still doesn't work. The old one is on its
last legs, and we're feeling desparate and frustrated. Any help would be
wonderful. Any info you need on my setup, I'd be happy to fill in - I'm
so ignorant I don't even know what to tell you.
Thanks!
Lynne
