[Web4lib] FW: Katrina

With all this dupication of effort that's
not entirely surprising. A lot of the little
sites are collecting around a particular
community rather than the whole of
the problem.

There are standards efforts that got
rolled into place almost immediately -
the People Finder Information Format
at http://zesty.ca/pfif/ consolidated a
lot of people's thinking about what
info you needed to collect and how
to store it and exchange it in a standard
format.

This drives home the point to me that if
your family doesn't have a designated
far-away rendezvous point for emergency
evacuations, it probably should. On the
other hand if 4 generations of your family
are all in the same place you might have
a real hard time finding a place where you
can go with everyone.
