Digital Services Librarian, Job Number  TU-07970

Under the general supervision of the Head of Reference and Instructional 
Services, the Librarian will evaluate current and emerging technologies for 
delivery of reference and information services, (e.g., rss, blogs, 
federated searching, portals, visualization, personalization, metadata 
schemes, virtual reference, alternative delivery options for content); plan 
and implement digital service initiatives and services, collaborating with 
other library departments, coordinating existing services such as Ask a 
Librarian (virtual, email, and IM reference) and providing leadership and 
training for librarians in use of technology-based services/resources; 
collect and report statistics and assess impact of technology-based 
services on library users; participate in the design and development of web 
and other materials (e.g., instructional and marketing) affecting patron 
use of information sources; participate fully in providing reference and 
instruction services; may participate in collection development in 
education or other designated subject area(s) as needed; may supervise 
student assistants or other staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA 
accredited institution of higher learning. An equivalent combination of 
education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated proficiency in the use of print and electronic information 
resources.
*Strong technological expertise including use and administration of digital 
library resources and services.
*Current awareness of issues and trends in information technology and 
public services.
*Familiarity with standard practices in web development and delivery, 
including usability issues.
*Excellent organizational and communication skills and commitment to 
providing responsive and innovative services to a culturally and racially 
diverse campus.

Preferred: Reference and instruction experience in an academic library.
