TECHNICAL SERVICES & SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN
Georgetown University's Edmund a Walsh School of Foreign Service in
Education City, Qatar (GUSFS-Q) will open in Fall 2005. We are seeking
dynamic and enthusiastic candidates to join the GU's team in Doha. The

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Technical Services and Systems Librarian reports to the Head,
Georgetown University, SFS-Qatar Library and has responsibility for the
acquisitions, technical services, licensing and electronic resources
coordination for the Doha SFS-Qatar Library. The incumbent is also
responsible for library systems that support the informational and
instructional needs of the Library. Performs acquisitions, technical
services, licensing and electronic resources coordination for Doha SFS-Q
Library, and provides research and instruction services to delivery
quality services to the GUSFS-Q.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's in Library Science or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years
professional experience in an academic, research or similar library
setting with significant experience in technical services, library
systems, cataloging or acquisitions. Must have at least one year
experience in library technical services, applications of library
systems, and/or electronic resource management. Experience providing
reference, research or bibliographic instruction services, and an
understanding of the basic principles of teaching information skills
research in a library setting. Must have a strong commitment to public
service. Expertise with major bibliographic utilities and current
cataloging standards; experience with integrated library systems;
Specific understanding of library operations, information delivery,
public service, library systems and software applications preferred.
Knowledge of some Arabic or other languages desired.
