problem of searching the right books

  Nowadays almost every library in the world offer the way to search 
its tulips through the net. I believe that each of you reading this all 
have the experience of using the system. I just want to ask that 
without knowing the real name of the books,can you find what you want 
through using keyword searching or topic searching? I alawys feel that 
the books listed after my searching do not reach my request or too 
little books I can use. Maybe it's because I am still unfamiliar with 
it. So I want to ask about your experience or some other good way to 
get what I want quickly,correctly,and with a big amount for reference. 
Or how to know the right keyword to use? Thank you!!
