many thanks to everyone who responded to this! my manager and i will
certainly take this all under consideration.
to those who suggested EBSCO's AtoZ: i've tried that. adding print
resources was too labour intensive (especially the way i wanted it to be).
our local rep told me i'm his worst customer because i complained about it
so much. isn't that nice to know? i even managed to break it once by
inserting some simple <span>s into bits of the admin module. at least i got
them to fix a lot of bugs in it, but we won't be using it.
to those who suggested Serials Solutions: maybe i'll take another look, but
from memory, last time i looked it was prohibitively expensive for us.
to those who suggested php/sql: we're aware of that option. that's what our
webmaster et al would be doing for us if we asked them. they have the
expertise, and although i quite happily use php for ILL and contact forms
etc. i have little confidence in being able to put a searchable database
with a web interface together by myself from scratch!
thanks,
vicki
