Suggestion from the Publib corner: in addition to subscribing via RSS,
subscribe with a "good" email address, and set it to no mail (as if you were
on vacation). You can POST with this setting; you just don't RECEIVE
messages.

Regarding the breakdown of gender at ALA conferences... now that sounds like
a survey question! :-)
