Senior Systems Administrator
The Senior Systems Administrator reports to the Teaching and Learning
Resources (TLR) Systems and Application Development Manager and is a
member of the TLR Systems and Application Development team with
responsibility for the design, development and maintenance of the
hardware and software infrastructure in all three areas of Teaching And
Learning Resources including the Libraries, ITD and the Art Museum.
This includes all development and production servers, desktop/laptop
workstations and labs (library, faculty technology, wireless and media).
Serving as a technical liaison both within TLR and to other departments,
the Senior Systems Administrator works closely with TLR service and the
application development staff to research, develop (or adapt), implement
and support technologies to be used in academic curricular and research
support for the libraries, ITD and the Art Museum.
Other responsibilities include: serving as technical lead to maintain
and update the TLR servers and services environment including the
implementation, maintenance and documentation of up-to-date systems and
network security solutions through regularly scheduled security audits.
Installing, maintaining, upgrading and repairing hardware/software in
Teaching and Learning Resources offices as well as labs on all campuses
supported by Teaching and Learning Resources; provide systems assistance
for labs and test/production equipment such as web and database servers;
lead and assist in the design and development of facilities to support
the deployment of multimedia and other instructional technologies in a
variety of areas at DePaul; providing hardware and software support to
ITD and library staff and faculty, as needed.
Requirements:
* Four or more years' system administration and software
installation experience in an MS-Windows workstation and server
environment
* Experience and/or knowledge in the following: DNS, DHCP, SQL
Server, PROXY Server, SMS, ADS, MOM, Group Policy, IntelliMirror,
Altiris (imaging software), SUS, advanced software packaging
* Experience in library system administration desirable.
* Two or more years in a video/multimedia environment desirable
* BS required (computer science, electrical engineering, or related
field preferred)
* Excellent communication and organization skills required
* Excellent technical writing and documentation skills required
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
* Advanced Windows NT/2000/2003 Server and Domain administration
* Advanced Windows 98/NT/2000/XP Workstation administration
* Advanced knowledge of network and system security (IPsec,
Firewall, Certficate Authority, etc.)
* Advanced Active Directory administration
* Advanced scripting skills, techniques, and experience with
Windows batch scripting, SMS Installer scipting, VBS scripting,
scripting within WMI and WSH
* Advanced Hardware maintenance/assembly
* Advanced Installation and support of Internet services (web,
database, ftp, mailing lists, etc.)
* Advanced oral and written communication
* Advanced ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Intermediate TCP/IP Networking
* Intermediate network server administration
* Intermediate network architecture in multi-protocol and multi-NOS
Environments
* Intermediate MS SQL Server and Access database systems
* Intermediate multimedia development tools (Premiere, Director)
* Intermediate video production/post production
