Why must banning be for life? If one is bankrupt, 7 years without a credit
card. If one goes to prison and pays their time, then it should ostensibly
not be held against them back in the 'world without walls'. Isn't a
lifetime ban Draconian? And considering the amount of "bad" words one
hears spouting every day from radios, mp3's etc., I consider this rule
particularly right-wing.
Whom are we protecting? Are we not adults here? I understand that there
were other lapses of appropriate behavior in Chuck's postings, but come
on, people - intellectual freedom? Freedom of speech? I found this "He
disobeyed the rules various times; he snuck back on the list and didn't
remain a lurker' rather repulsive. I love Web4Lib, have monitored it for
years - but there is something a little off here when one person is
ostracized so deeply, and others who are marginally less 'offensive' are
not so treated.
IMHO
