Well said Lars. Actually, the Wikimedia Foundation already has a
Wikibibliography project of sorts underway:

"Wikisource (http://wikisource.org/wiki/Main_Page:English) is a repository
of source texts in any language which are either in the public domain, or
are released under the GFDL. The site is part of the Wikimedia foundation
and is a sister project of Wikipedia. Wikisource currently has 5969 pages.
Visit the help page and experiment in the sandbox to learn how you can edit
any page right now."

I think the case could be made to the Wikimedia Foundation that they should
incorporation non-public domain sources of published works in the form of
bibliographic entries into Wikisource.
