Going the Distance: Librarians Supporting Online Courses

Saturday, June 26, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
The Peabody Orlando Plaza International Ballroom F/G

Sponsored by the RUSA MARS Education, Training and Support Committee

How can we adapt librarians' traditional skills and values to the online world
of learning and instruction? Join us to learn about how three libraries have
moved into the online learning environment.

Wendi Bost of the Orange County Library System will illustrate how a public
library successfully provides not only online, interactive homework help to
students, but also live streaming video courses in basic subjects as well as
language learning course modules.

Alexius Macklin will describe how WebCT Vista serves as a portal for information
access, instruction materials, and assessment tools in a "one stop" location
for faculty and students at Purdue University.

Helen Smith and Loanne Snavely will discuss tools created to link ANGEL, Penn
State University's course management system, to relevant library resources, to
serve the online needs of both resident instruction and distance education
courses.
